Lot Clearing &
Brush Removal
We turn overgrown properties into clean, usable land. Building lots, fence lines, overgrown back acres, construction prep — one crew handles it all across Middlesex County.
What We Do
Lot clearing is one of those jobs where people don’t realize how much work is involved until they’re standing in the middle of it with a chainsaw and a pair of loppers, covered in prickers, wishing they’d called us first. New England brush is no joke — multiflora rose, bittersweet vine, sumac, saplings so thick you can barely walk through them. What looks like “a little cleanup” from the driveway is usually a two-day job once you’re in it.
We clear everything from quarter-acre building lots for homeowners putting up a garage to multi-acre parcels for developers starting new construction. The process is the same: take down the trees, grind the stumps, clear the brush and undergrowth, and leave you with clean, workable ground. No half measures, no leaving stumps for “you to deal with later.”
Spring is popular for lot clearing, but honestly late fall and winter are better. The ground is firm — especially after a freeze — there’s less undergrowth to fight through, you can see the full scope of the lot without leaves in the way, and there’s less disruption to wildlife nesting seasons. We clear lots year-round, but if you can plan ahead, winter clearing goes faster and usually costs less.
We handle the whole job — trees, stumps, brush, debris. No need to coordinate three different contractors. One call to (978) 375-2272, one crew, clean lot.

The
Process
01
Walk the Site
We walk the entire lot with you, mark what stays and what goes, and note access points and any restrictions — wetlands, property lines, structures to protect.
02
Take Down the Trees
Anything marked for removal comes down, section by section. Large trees get felled or crane-assisted if the site requires it. Nothing drops on what you want to keep.
03
Grind the Stumps
Every stump ground 6–12 inches below grade. For building sites we go deeper to keep subsurface clear for foundations, septic, and grading equipment.
04
Clear the Brush
All undergrowth, saplings, bittersweet, multiflora rose, and debris cleared. Material is chipped on-site or hauled away — your call.
05
Final Cleanup
Site raked and left construction-ready or lawn-ready depending on your plans. When we leave, it looks like a lot — not a jungle.
What It
Costs
$1,500 – $15,000+ — depending on lot size, tree count, density, access, and disposal requirements.
Lot clearing costs vary significantly based on acreage, tree density, and terrain. A small residential lot (quarter acre) with mostly brush and small trees typically runs $1,500–$4,000. A half-acre lot with mature trees and dense brush is $4,000–$8,000. Larger parcels are quoted per-acre — typical range is $3,000–$8,000 per acre for mixed conditions.
What drives the price: total acreage, number and size of trees being removed, how dense the undergrowth is, site access for our equipment, and whether you want debris hauled away or chipped on-site. A flat, open lot costs less to clear than a steep, rocky parcel with no truck access.
We give free on-site estimates. We’ll walk the lot with you, give you a fixed price before any work starts, and tell you honestly if there’s a cheaper way to get what you need done.

FAQ
How much does lot clearing cost per acre?
Typical lot clearing in Middlesex County runs $3,000–$8,000 per acre for mixed brush and small trees. Heavily wooded parcels with large mature trees can run higher — those require more time, more equipment, and more disposal. We quote on-site so you get a real number, not a range from a website.
Do I need permits for lot clearing?
Permit requirements vary by town. Most Middlesex County municipalities require a tree removal permit for clearing above a certain diameter, and any lot near wetlands, streams, or vernal pools needs Conservation Commission review before we touch it. We’ll flag anything we see during the site walk — but your town’s building or conservation department is the definitive answer for your specific parcel.
What happens to all the trees and brush?
Trees get felled and sectioned. Brush and smaller material get chipped on-site — you can keep the chips for mulch or we haul everything away. Larger logs can be left for firewood or removed. We handle it all; you just tell us what you want done with it.
Can you selectively clear — keeping some trees?
Absolutely. That’s actually most of our lot clearing jobs. Most homeowners want to keep a few oaks or maples for shade and character. We walk the lot with you, flag what stays with ribbon, and everything else comes out. We take the same care around trees you’re keeping as we do around your house.
How long does lot clearing take?
A quarter-acre lot that’s mostly brush and small trees: 1–2 days. A half-acre with mature trees and dense undergrowth: 2–4 days. A full acre or more, especially with stumping and disposal included, can run 1–2 weeks. Site access, terrain, and how deep you want stumps ground all factor in.
What's the best season for lot clearing?
Late fall through early spring — after the leaves drop, before the ground thaws soft. The ground is firm (especially after a hard freeze), there’s less undergrowth to fight through, you can see the full scope of the lot without leaves blocking the view, and you’re not disrupting nesting season. We clear year-round, but winter clearing tends to go faster and usually costs a bit less.
